Nerdy artifacts from my youth are few and far between. I wish I had video from the 1980's and more pictures of myself. Over this past weekend I visited my family home and ended up digging out a couple of boxes. In them I found a treasure-trove of items from the 90's.

In the 90's I went from jr. high to h.s. to college. In jr. high and high school I was in scholastic bowl, concert choir, the speech/drama team, and an executive officer in the science club. I took every AP science class our school had, including summer field courses in which I got to do surveying for the state, go caving and do some major canoeing. When I graduated I had taken the equivalent of six years of science!

So, how did this nerdy young girl who always had a book in hand dress? Here she is in 1997 toward the end of h.s:

Rocking the all black even then and with my Star Wars tie to boot. Those were the days!

Well, I found in the box I saved some of my geeky ties!
On the left we have a great Star Trek tie. I also found my old ST:TNG communicator pin so I threw that in the photo as well. In the middle we have my dinosaur tie and then finally the Star Wars tie! I know I had many more ties, but I'm not sure if I'll ever find them.

The Star Trek tie was still tied from the last time I wore it. Which, despite the fact that it's at least 14 years old, was probably sometime in the early 2000's. I put it on just for kicks. I think I'm just going to have to start wearing ties again....

Geeky Soap

You've probably seen these on other blogs and geeky sites, but here's a fresh reminder about some very unique soap!

Geeky Clean has an amazing assortment of soaps to choose from. I'm excited to see their booth at Gen Con and I'm even more excited to have soap with a treasure inside of it!

Yes those are d20's in there. I love this idea! I will be giving away the Health bar in a contest this week. So stay tuned!

Next up is Geek Soap! A few days after I ordered my soap a new WoW hearthstone soap appeared on the site. It's awesome. I have to admit that I want it pretty badly. I got two very cool soaps from this site.

The Star Trek bar is very cool. It's wrapped in plastic still hence the weird squiggles. The cartridge soaps make great display pieces in my very eclectic bathroom. It also really does resemble the actual thing in great detail. Here's a comparison with my Game Boy:


Over at Luxury Lane there is even more great soap including Hello Kitty! This is the site where you can get the awesome Carbonite soap.
This picture doesn't do it justice and I left it in its packaging so it's a bit shiny. It's a display soap for me as well since it contains wheat and I am gluten intolerant, but it was well worth it. The level of detail is really awesome.

**I've also found out that both Geek Soap and Luxury Lane will be at Gen Con together in one booth under the G33Kmade banner. Yay! Gen Con is going to rock!**

All three soap makers create little works of art. These soaps are vegan friendly, fun to have, and smell wonderful. Any of these would make great gifts for your gaming buddies.

If you know of any other geeky soap makers let me know. These three are truly artisans at what they do. Having soap like this just adds another bright spot to every day life.

It's Fishnet Friday

I was catching up on tv from the last month or so and noticed that Hulu had a new Family Guy Star Wars parody called "Something, Something Dark Side". While watching it this guy suddenly pops up when the Snowtroopers invade Hoth.

So, that's what they wear under the uniforms! Of course. No wonder I have a strong desire to get some trooper armour. Actually, this trooper apparently is hoping to go out to a club after he gets off Hoth. Darth Stewie was not amused. However, I was very amused!

Stormtrooper on a Stormy Day

No comic books today due to the Memorial Day holiday Monday. So, tomorrow I will head over to Castle P. and probably end up running into my arch-nemesis Capt. Osmotic. . .


Yes, here I am drinking coffee and playing with the first ever woman Stormtrooper from the Joker Squad six-pack released by Entertainment Earth (currently sold out). I bought Jes Gistang here, on e-bay awhile back without her comrades. Oh the humanity! Well, I just wanted her.

Gistang is from a comic book series and I don't want to spoil it for you, but she may as well be wearing red (Bad 8-bit Emma, don't cross the streams, I mean fandoms...).

We will not head into the territory of gender and sexuality issues in the Star Wars universe (or race for that matter), but you know at least ol' Georgie had the good sense to say that there were female stormtroopers. They just weren't stationed on the Death Star apparently. Yes, the Death Star a sausage-fest for the ages. Roasted sausages, that is....

I have a strong love-hate relationship with the Star Wars universe, but that's a post for another time.

Now, I think I'll have Gistang battle my Nightcrawler figure because they are roughly the same size....

New Video Game Day

Tuesdays see the release of new video games. Today also happens to be the birthday of my sexy younger man, 8-bit Zombie or Mr. Chronic Geek...

Here's how we've celebrated so far...

Red Dead Redemption came with a pack of playing cards. Sadly we haven't been able to play it yet because we are on the road right now, but I will post a review later this week.
